I took Paxton into DC for his first protest. Each year the Canadian Embassy throws a big party for all local Canadians who want to come. This year they decided not to invite every day Canadians and just use it as a networking party for who knows who. We were bummed, to say the least.

Tim was supposed to come along but booked a call and thought we were leaving earlier. Once I got over my upset, I decided to go alone with Pax. Tim drove us to the metro. We met a bunch of people at a pub that was decorated for Canada day and then walked over as a group to the Embassy.

We just stood there with our flags, quiet, chatting among ourselves. Two of the women went and asked if we could enter just to sing Oh Canada, since the Embassy is considered Canadian soil. They said that if we waited 45 minutes, they'd let us in. Everyone went for more beer, except for me, I sat and nursed Paxton in the shade because it was so hot!

They let us in, just after Paxton fell asleep. It was a much smaller group than last year, and you could tell there were less Canadians because there were less hockey jerseys. Heh Less people wrapped in flags as well.

They still had free beer, free hamburgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers, soda, water and juice. I sat inside and some kids played with Paxton. There was a woman set up with information on how to get Paxton's dual citizenship, so I chatted with her and got the paperwork.

Tim joined us after his call was over, the party was pretty much over by that time, so we walked to the National Mall and went to a museum. Paxton discovered he could yell (in the art museum) and it echoed, so we left pretty quick. It was so hot we decided to just come home and order Chinese food, instead of worrying about making Poutine (that I couldn't eat anyway).

Not a bad Canada day! Next year it will be on a Saturday, so hopefully Reagan can come along! I was hoping she could come this year, but she ended up going to visit her grandparents. Hopefully the Embassy will see that this party is special and important to us Canadians, and start inviting u again! They said it was due to budget cuts, but maybe they should just charge a few bucks for beer instead of making it free beer and let more Canadians in.

Drove Tim to work this morning, and then bought the last plain cheese curds at Wegmans, for our Canada day poutine party.

Realized as I turned off the car at Wegmans that I had my car keys AND Tim's car keys, and my cell phone was at home. Luckily someone could let him into the building, but oops! I usually remember to give them to him! (he had gone out earlier, so his keys were in the ignition)

Bang trim, don't know why I have such a hard time saying "blunt cut please" but I finally did it, and she cut them properly. Everyone wants to thin my bangs or give me a jagged edge, but with my cowlick, I like them straight.

Tried on two piece bathing suits. Found one that would have been super cute, but one size up (which they didn't have) would have been better. Saw one I loved the other day, should have bought it, since it was my size, cause now it's gone.

Finally met the wife of the Indian guy I always talk to at the pool! He was outside with a bunch of family members and we said hi to each other, and this girl turned and said hi and said "My husband talks about you all the time!". Heh. I realized she was the wife, so I went to shake her hand and she gave me a big hug. So sweet! They are closing on a house though, so moving soon. I think I'll exchange #s with her!
