things I love in my yard.

Last night I walked around and took pictures of things that make me happy, from my yard.

My stone stairs. I really need to clean the dry grass away, and scrap the moss off, but I love my stone stairs.




I love that there are wild things growing out of my hedge. Honeysuckle and small wild blackberries. I'm not sure why these are different than the others, but they grow on a smaller vine, and the berries are teeny and ripen much sooner than the other blackberries:




There are also thimble berries growing. I grew up calling these salmon berries, but I just learned today that they aren't.


Last summer it was too cool for the blackberries to do well, but I think I am going to have a lot in my yard this year!


The birds have already devoured all the cherries growing in my yard, but there are some plums I'll be able to pick!


This rose bush is half domestic, half wild. These are the pink wild roses, the domestic ones still bloom red.


I love that my neighbour has planted peas and tomatoes and strawberries, and they are growing all over her porch. So much nicer than my neighbour last year who used to just leave her empties for me to see...


my daisies, and my stone wall. I love them both.


and.. I love my compost. All that grass is what I hand cut after someone stole my weedeater. I love having a compost, it cuts down on how much waste goes into the garbage each day.




And, last but not least, I love my peas and beans that are so cute and little but will soon provide me with tasty snacks.

One day! All your dreams will come to you.. I just read your post.. do you know what kind of a house you'll be in?

Not sure yet... we'd love to rent a house, but they're expensive. We'll probably rent an apt. in a complex (actually saw one where I can have a little garden!!). But, there's hope to rent an apt. in someone's house and then maybe we'll be able to have a yard. It's all up in the air since I don't have a job yet. (well, neither does K, but I really think he's going to get this one!) Some of the apt. complexes are gorgeous -- tennis, swimming pool, etc. The one I love is all full of trees and nature... PA is gorgeous anyway in the Fall, but living in this place would be heaven! ;) I'll keep you posted!
