Vacation to North Carolina

We had a great trip to North Carolina, we originally planned on going for the long weekend, but Reagan wasn't out of school yet. This turned out even more perfect because we didn't have to fight traffic.

I ended up driving the entire way to Tim's parent's house, all 7 hours or whatever it turned out to be. I wasn't even freaked out. We didn't there till well after midnight, and everyone was crashed.

It's hard to remember what we did each day, but one day we drove out to the Outerbanks and spent the day at the ocean. It was really perfect. Hot, but not too hot. The beach wasn't crowded. We were on the marine corp base beach, and it was wonderful. I missed being able to swim, but I loved jumping the waves and the fact that there was no seaweed!! So different from the beaches back home.

One day we went out on Tim's dad's boat. It's a really nice boat, I fished off the front and caught 7 or 8 or more fish, I kind of lost track. They were mostly too small to catch, but the kids loved throwing them back in the water.

The pelicans were so cool, I wish I had taken pictures of them. I'd never seen pelicans in the wild before! At one point, a pod of dolphins swam by, there must have been 10 or 15 of them, it was a really special thing to see, as the sun was setting.

Tim's mom fed us well, and Tim's dad took good care of us. I really appreciate the fact that his parents are so loving and kind, and that they love and accept me so fully! They are so happy that Tim is in a loving relationship again.

Spent some time with Tim's sister and her new boyfriend, and lots of time with Reagan's cousin Seamus. He was very interested in the fact that I was now his aunt, it was cute to have him asking so many questions about how family works. Not so cute when he pulled me into another room to say that he saw us having sex on our wedding dvd. LOL I explained that we were just kissing (now you may kiss the bride..) but that yes, married people did have sex, but that wasn't sex. He told me that he thought sex meant a lot of kissing, and I said that yes, that was part of it, and we left it at that. Heh, not sure why these kids feel the need to ask ME all the questions, but I guess I'm not scary.

Tim's brother stopped in one night, good to see him. He is moving for university and his girlfriend Taylor couldn't make it, which was too bad.

Tim and I bought Tim's mom some hanging baskets and wrote her a card for her retirement. She was so happy with them, which made me so happy.

There's so much else to tell, but of course my brain just isn't thinking it all up right now. Overall, a great vacation, a relaxing time, great family time. I always leave feeling loved and I always feel a bit sad to go, cause I get used to be around lots of people and I enjoy it. It's so nice to have family at the beach! Makes for a fun, but not too expensive vacation!

her hair, is it natural??? O.O

[identity profile] mellybrelly.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
It is! Tim's hair is like that too, if he lets it grow out!

[identity profile] mellybrelly.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I know. I hope that if I have girls, they have his hair!

Don't be jealous! It is gorgeous, but as someone with the same type of hair, I can tell you that I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. VERY hard to care for, VERY hard to do anything with. And mostly? BUSHY, 'cause of the aforementioned two things. :D

As long as we put tons of conditioner and product in her hair, it's awesome. Her mom doesn't put anything in her hair and it looks like a huge puff ball on her head when we pick her up.

I never fully could comprehend the name Seamus. lol
and are you surrrrrrre he didn't get a hold of some other dvd of yours? *cough cough* kids are funny :P

Great pics, great fun!

[identity profile] mellybrelly.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
lol, that's what Tim kept saying, that he didn't mean to give his parents THAT dvd. :P

We had a great time

(and I know, it's weird to say it Shaymus when it's spelled like that!)

First off, your camera is fab, the quality of those photos is amazing, you did a great job, some great compositions. I love the one of Reagan on scooter and looking cool in her pink glasses. I also love the shot you took of Tim when he wasn't looking, it is wonderful.

I am so glad you had this time away, sounds marvelous. My dad moved to North Carolina a few years ago, but I think he is in the mountains, not sure. Flatrock I think?

And as for that dvd, ahem... yeah... *L*

[identity profile] mellybrelly.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Thank you! We want to invest in a better camera one day, but for now, this one works. I really like it for outdoor photos.

We really loved this time away, Tim's family is happy he's down there more often, I love seeing them and the ocean, it's really win/win.

and.. heh.. yeah. the dvd. :P

What's the other spelling of Seamus?

What a funny misunderstanding of sex. I bet he thought it was OK to ask you because you're new to him. :}

[identity profile] mellybrelly.livejournal.com 2009-06-03 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea if there's another spelling for it, but it's said "shaymus". (if you were wondering)

I am pretty sure he knows more about sex, from the books grandma bought him, but I think he was partially testing boundaries, and partially just confused. hahah.

I wonder if boobie man in that picture is white under his moobs?

/random head ;)

Awhhhh loved these; it's like I came along for the ride. I've never been on a boat out on the ocean before (well, except on a cruise ship). Must be exciting and peaceful!!! Great day, thanks for taking so many pictures. :D

Going out into the Georgia Strait is definitely different than the open ocean. The waves were MASSIVE off shore, and then really really rolling once we were out on the water, whereas in the Strait, the water is more calm, or smaller choppier waves.

It's wonderful if you don't start feeling queasy! It was super peaceful once we pulled down to where the river met the ocean and there were zero waves.

Thanks for looking at the pictures!

Sounds like a wonderful trip! Great pics--glad you included some of you! Your children are destined for beautiful hair no matter who they take after--maybe they'll get a combo of the red AND curls. :)

I hope they do!!!! I'd love little redheaded curly haired babies. :D
