back to sleep

Hrm, Pax just rolled himself onto his belly, in his sleep. I hope it was a fluke.

(oh, and earlier, he was trying to roll so I stuck my finger out. He grabbed it and hauled himself over. I'm such an enabler.)

It's not dangerous if they can do it on their own.

He's just so young still, worries me because he can't flip himself back over. I just wasn't expecting to deal with this till he was older!! (I rolled him back, and he rolled himself back, and eventually settled on sleeping on his side) :P

How old precisely is he again? *embarrased*

That's okay, he was 2 months on the 29th of September.

Ah. My daughter decided that sleeping on her back sucked when she was just three months old, and from then on always rolled on her belly. I decided that it was not an option to stay awake all night to roll her back and let her be.

I'm a belly sleeper, I can relate to how they feel :P

Oh, I remember the rolling and worrying about it even though everybody and all the books said that if a baby can roll onto his belly, it's OK.

I even said the same thing to someone the other day, and then MY baby had to go and do it. Rotter.

It's so much easier said than done. I remember how Bug would wake up because I'd roll him over but I couldn't take "the risk," you know?

I freaked out when Emilie started wanting to sleep on her tummy. And not just on her tummy, face down! I kept waking up and turning her over. She would sleep on her side for a bit, then go back to the tummy. Finally I called the advice line at the ped's office. The nurse told me that if she can turn her head and roll back and forth (which she could), not to worry about it because if she needs more oxygen she'll roll back. I've also known plenty of people who said their babies would never sleep comfortably on their backs, not even from birth. And they were fine. So try not to freak out like I did. ;)

It's funny because my brain knows all this stuff, but I still felt so nervous and tried rolling him back, but he'd roll back. He slept pretty hard on his belly.

I know...even if your brain knows it, we've had the Back to Sleep OMG SIDS! thing drilled into us too. :) Emilie started sleeping for longer stretches on her tummy. I think it's more comfortable for them.
