I'm silly excited to show Reagan this ant's nest when she arrives. I drove by it the other day and was amazed that it was still in the same spot. I grew up with our property surrounded by crown land and nature park, and just up the road there was this giant red ant nest. I think someone with a tractor would try to destroy it every few years, but they would just build it up again. We used to go and poke it with sticks and watch the ants climb the stick. Probably not the best thing to do, but we were kids and we were learning.
The nest has to be at least 30 years old, I moved into the house when I was 5 and it was there. I think Reagan will get a big kick out of it. She loves bugs and nature and science. Every time I drive past, I count down the days till I can show it to her.
This afternoon we are going for a tea party at my friend Theresa's house. Theresa is the friend who lent me her car while I'm here. Her daughters and granddaughters will be there, my mom and two sisters and their kids. Should be fun chaos. I wish it were a bit sunnier today, it's cool and grey, but still pleasant weather.
My mom is packing up two loaves of homemade bread and two jars of homemade jam for
msmcfeeley.
Think I'll take the baby up for a bath, since he rubbed raspberry jam in his hair at breakfast!
