anniversary
Oct. 15th, 2010 03:32 pmI have failed at keeping my baby from TV for the first two years. Today he was contorting his body so he was looking at the TV upside down, just to see what was happening on The Apprentice. Goodness, nosey boy.
Now he's making puppy noises at me from the swing, so I'll make this fast.
Today is 2 years since I moved from Canada to be here with Tim. What a life changing move. I admit, the first 6 months was rougher than I thought it would be, but when we got married, I felt like things smoothed out. There have been bumps with his ex, with learning how to come together as a couple, learning how to co-parent with his child.
In two years we've vacationed in New York, multiple trips to DC/NC, we had a USA wedding, worked through immigration paperwork, bought a house, wedding in Canada, moved, decided to have a baby, vacation in Vegas, gone through childbirth together.
I met him here, what, six years ago? Flew down to see him almost 5 years ago? Married my best friend. Married a guy who makes me laugh, is kind and gentle, sexy and gorgeous, who is hard working and strives to be a good partner. Like he said this morning, 2 years down, a lifetime to go.
(never mind about Pax, he just fell back asleep... and awake again :P)

our first wedding anniversary
Apr. 2nd, 2010 09:47 amAhh, nice night. Tim came home from work with roses, and got dressed up, I wore a dress and heels, first time in a long time for that. We drove off and as we approached a certain part of town, I was trying to think of what restaurants were over there. I remembered this one little tiny hidden one that Tim showed me ages ago, which is Zagat rated and hoped he had thought of it too, and he had. Panino, if any locals want a new place to check out. They have a second restaurant in the Plains.
It was so quiet in there, and excellent service. Tim had been told that they have a good menu, but a long list of specials, and they did. They brought us a pottery canister full of tall thin breadsticks that they make there, plus bread that was just baked. We started with calamari and an arugula salad with their vinaigrette, fresh pears, pecans and gorgonzola. I had fresh ravioli stuffed with swiss chard and ricotta in a butter sauce with slices of fresh parmesan, Tim had pistachio crusted white fish with garlic spinach and carrots and potato. He said the pistachios tasted freshly crushed, it was all really good. We were going to resist dessert, since we had cake at home, but Tim really liked the look of this blueberry tart thing, which was really tasty. Tim finished off with some espresso and we were good to go. Bit pricey, but worth it.
He drove me to Nelson Park, where we got engaged and married, and we walked around looking at all the blossoms, and sat in the gazebo for a bit, talking and kissing.
Then we were dorks and ran to Target all dressed up, cause we needed a few Easter things.
Now home, ate slices of our wedding cake that I don't even remember tasting at the wedding. He opened his gift from me, a hand written journal, with entries I wrote about or to him over the last year and a half.
A year, and I love him so much, and I know he loves me, and I feel blessed. I hope we can be good to each other for our lifetimes.

anniversary
Apr. 2nd, 2010 03:43 amI was going to call and tease my mom for not calling about our anniversary, since she (jokingly) gave me a hard time, but on the way to grabbing the phone, I checked the mail and there was a card from my parents. So sweet, and very thoughtful.
No idea where Tim and I are going for dinner tonight, his plans, kind of excited.. hoping I fit into one of my skirts..

Happy Anniversary
Apr. 1st, 2010 11:00 pmOne year ago today, Tim and I played the best April Fools prank that wasn't actually a prank. We got married, and only told a very small handful of people, and then announced it on facebook and livejournal. Of course, almost no one believed us, till we posted photos.

A week earlier, he asked me to marry him in Nelson Park, here in Virginia, at the same place we were to be married. He was kind of upset when I picked that park to get married, because he had picked it months earlier, to ask me to marry him, he didn't want me to think he was copying. Two weeks earlier we picked up our marriage license. We do things the oddest way sometimes.
We were married by an 85 year old man named Col. Ulysses Xerxes White, a small group of friends attended.
I met Tim through livejournal, in August of 2004. I fell in love with him, and even though we had some major bumps along the way, with me living on an Island on the west coast of Canada, and him being in the busy metro DC area of the USA, we did it, and it was a good decision. It was a very big decision for both of us, not only life changing for Tim, but changed everything for me, from moving from my family and friends, my country, everything I knew. Became a step mom.
In the last year, we got married, we started and finished our immigration process. In one week, we bought a house, I flew to Canada to prepare for our wedding there, and we had our interview with homeland security. We threw a great wedding in Canada, in my parent's back yard, with a fruit and dessert reception. My main goal for the wedding was to have as many people who I love and who love me to attend. Children were not only allowed, they were welcomed. We came home and moved into our new house and decided to try for a baby, and here I sit now, on my one year anniversary with a little one kicking me. *tears*
I never actually posted my wedding photos here on LJ, life just felt so busy at the time. In honour of my first anniversary with Tim, here they are. Many many photos:

March 23 2006 was the day I crossed the border back into Canada, from my first time with Tim. Crazy how things have changed.

I've been on livejournal for six years now! It's been a pretty great place for me. I have made a lot of online friends, some great "real life" friends, and it's where I met Tim. I still miss the old system of invite codes to join lj, but I've written here almost every day, and it's still my favourite place online.

5 years. I'm happy I'm here. I'm happy that my journal brought really great people into my life. Tons of you I've met, some I haven't, and some I plan to meet! I even had dirty dirty times with one of you. Pervert.
