It's been a great day!

I showered pretty early and am wearing regular clothes, vs pj type clothes.
Put makeup on.
Put the baby in cloth diapers all day (some days I do, some I don't)
Made coffee.

Anna came over with her baby, Ridley, and we played for a couple hours. I babysat Ridley while she ran home, I got some cute photos of Paxton all excited about the baby.

Paxton and I went for a walk in the very cold weather, despite the snow all over the sidewalks.

Paid all the bills that are due tomorrow (for the first half of the month).
Balanced the chequebook. Didn't feel like stabbing things.

Wrote my menu for February and the first week of March.
Wrote grocery lists for various stores. (Wegmans, Walmart, Shoppers, Trader Joes, depending on who has what for the best prices)

Played with my baby. Made him giggle. Watched as he rolled himself across the room, downstairs.

Pulled food out for dinner, and now about to go cook. It's supposed to be bad weather around here again, and I need to do my grocery shop, so it's probably going to be madness. I'm only going to Wegmans, I can send Tim to Walmart for that stuff, and we can hit Shoppers and Trader Joe's another day. I don't really want to go out tonight, but I know I'd rather have it done than not done.

I love days where I feel productive. I hate feeling like I'm sore and tired and barely functioning, which is how I feel quite a bit, between a really sore body left over from my pregnancy, and lack of sleep.

Oh, and our friend who had the brutal heart attack on the plane the other day? First off it sounded like he was going to die, his family all flew home, but then a sudden turn around and now he's home! He's home with a giant list of medications, but thank goodness he's alive!

Paxton is finishing his nap on my lap, and laughing in his sleep. Wonder what he's dreaming about. I finally cut his nails today, I've been trying for a few days and he has scratches on his face and all over my boobs! I swear I have to cut them more than once a week, they grow so fast. He likes to hold a handful of boob while he nurses, so I have all these tiny fingernail marks.

I had a bath last night and came back downstairs to Tim and Pax rocking out to Tim's music. Paxton would fuss whenever a song finished.

We need to finish Reagan's christmas shopping in the next couple nights, plus I need a couple of things for Tim and Paxton, and a present for Amelia. Amy called to say she wanted the girls to exchange gifts, which is sweet, but another thing to add to the list.

I have my snickerdoodle recipe out, and half the ingredients, hopefully this baby will co-operate!

I love sales. I went shopping at Children's Place for my 4 nephews and 2 nieces, for Christmas. I got the boys each one pair of pants and one shirt, and the girls a shirt and a skirt, plus a shirt for Paxton, and a pair of jeans, a skirt and a shirt for Reagan for Christmas. I wish I bought more, with a coupon, plus the sales at the store, it all came to $44. I just remembered that they wouldn't sell me one shirt because it turns out it was a pajama shirt and there were no pants with it, it looked like a normal dinosaur shirt to me, so I need to find something else for Aaron, but that's easy enough. I'll pick up a few more things, maybe some silly bandz as well. I'm bringing it all in my suitcase so I don't have to ship it.

I have no idea what to buy for everyone else. I'm going to put together an album for my mom, with the pictures that [livejournal.com profile] totheleft took for us, and I'll do the same for Tim's mom. But that leaves my dad, my 2 sisters, my brother, my 2 brother in laws, and Tim's dad and family. I should probably send something to my aunt in England, I feel bad, she always sends gifts and I rarely do. :(

I picked up some dishes for us as well, we've been using dishes that were bought at the beginning of Tim's previous marriage, and they are cracked and all the bowls broke. Will be nice to have our own dishes that we picked out. When I walked into the store, in the huge outlet mall, the woman working there said "Oh, it's you again, you were just here on the weekend!". I was shocked she remembered me!

Went to [livejournal.com profile] vitainpalus's house, hung out there for a few hours. So awesome, she was given an infant insert for her ergo, but it turned out she didn't need one, her baby is big enough. I, on the other hand, was just looking at ordering one yesterday, but they are $25 just for the insert, which seems so high when I could buy another moby for almost that price. She passed it along to me, perfect! Hopefully I can pass it along to someone else eventually, or use it for the next (possible) baby so I can use my ergo sooner!

Then off to grocery shopping. Went to Harris Teeter, just got my wrap on and realized I didn't have my coupons and it isn't worth shopping there without my coupons, so I got back in the car and drove to Wegmans, where I bought way more than I expected, but I feel like I have some good choices for meals.

When I got home, Amy had brought a container of chili over, and I had cornbread made, so that was an easy quick dinner. I'll make tonight's dinner on Friday. (chicken fajitas) [livejournal.com profile] vitainpalus had something cooking that smelled so good, I had to get the recipe, and I'll make that tomorrow.

Baby.. oh baby, baby is going through a growth spurt which means he wakes up 2-3 times in the night instead of once. Every hour or two hours to nurse, instead of the 4 he was doing last week. That equals tired tired tired mommy. Tim has him upstairs with him right now, cleaning the kitchen, giving me a few minutes break. I measured Paxton this morning and he's up another inch, he's 24 inches now. :)

I think that's everything.

I woke up sick this morning, which might explain why I fell asleep at 8:30 last night. Paxton and I slept till 12:30 am, got up and hung out with Tim for a bit, had a snack, Paxton fed and went back to sleep so I did the same. He slept till about 5:30 am, but then nursed off and on for about an hour and a half, I think he was just too rested. We both fell back asleep for a morning nap

Yesterday I took him to the doctor and was very happy to see he gained 11 ounces in 2 weeks, I think it's cutting out the dairy that helped. The nurse was sweet but an idiot. I had to tell her three times that I thought she was leaning on the scale, as she's pushing it up past 11 lbs.. Then she measured his length wrong and forgot to measure his head. Another nurse came in and did it, and was very unimpressed with the first nurse (although she loves Paxton and asked to hold him), and told me "She's only been here three months and she won't be here another". He goes back in 2 months, but I think I'll take him next month for a lab to see how his weight gain is going.

After that it was off to [livejournal.com profile] vitainpalus's house. I got to hold her baby Riley for a few minutes, while Paxton was nursing, it was adorable to have both of them in my arms but made me appreciate how much work it would be with twins!! Isabel snuggled up to me and we sang every preschool song I could remember. I love my visits with them.

A new Harris Teeter grocery story opened, and there was a coupon in the mail for $10 off of $40 of groceries for the next 4 weeks. I had some coupons for other things, and then shopped carefully. Spent $55 and saved $36 with coupons!

An older woman at the grocery store oohed over Paxton and then said slightly disapproving "You are going to spoil that baby", since he was in a wrap, and I said "Yup, I am!". If baby wearing is spoiling, then I will have a very spoiled baby. Someone should tell those Ethiopian babies on their momma's backs that they are spoiled.

A man stopped me and told me that his daughter had a little birthmark behind her ear, just like Paxton's little one on his head. Then his wife went on about how they can cause mental retardation, thankfully I didn't freak out about it, but the husband laughed and said that his wife was just a nurse and to quit saying things that would scare me. I know Pax is fine, so it didn't really bother me.

One of their daughters told me that she has a brand new baby brother, and they had 4 kids with them so I said "You guys have a baby too?!", she said "No, he's my stepmom's baby", and the mom looked at her and smiled and said "He's 3 weeks old now, right?". The mom didn't look like she had one negative feeling showing about it, and it made me a bit sad that things aren't as good in our family, with that stuff. I wanted to tell her that I had a stepdaughter too, so she'd know there are more of us, but we all moved on too quickly.

I think I need to take some tylenol. I took one this morning and slept most the morning with Paxton, but it must be worn off, my headache is getting worse and my throat is hurting more. Paxton is asleep right now, so I'll try to lay down and rest. Think it'll be leftovers for dinner tonight.

Midwife just called to check in on me, I let her know about what happened this morning, in a nice way, but so she knows that communication still needs to be cleared up. She wanted to make sure I wasn't feeling stressed, and that everything was okay, and to tell me to call if I needed anything this weekend.

She phoned the diabetic specialists who confirmed that exercise could alter the results of the GD test, and she still was unsure about the carboloading, but they did confirm that cutting back on carbs would lead to a false negative, and it was better to remain balanced. I reminded her that I didn't mean to go eat 30 pita the night before, but to add in a piece of bread and a piece of fruit, as is suggested by most mainstream physicians. I think she's afraid I'm doing something crazy.

I think she feels bad about how this has gone down. Maybe a good step in the right direction? We'll see how this week goes, if I need to change my providers or not.

Lila has a friend who is a doula, I need to talk to Tim about if that's something we want or not.

Went to IKEA with Amy, bought a sweet little mobile with bugs for the baby, and a new duvet set for Reagan (hearts!), plus a flower lamp for her wall, plus a big heart rug for her floor. She's always putting a baby blanket down on the floor as a rug, so I couldn't resist. It'll be a "big sister" gift from the baby. Means I also need to buy her some new sheets, and a new bed skirt as well. Her bedroom will need a paint job, maybe this summer, plus I want to move everything around when we refinish the dresser for her. (Might be a while with baby coming for that to get done)

I can't forget to go check on the neighbour's dogs and rabbit today, it's hot out and I want to make sure they still have water. Think I'll do that right now.. and take out dinner while I'm thinking about it.

Busy day today. We all went outside and did yardwork. Reagan and I pulled ivy off the bricks, swept, picked weeks. I used the sucker/blower to clear off our back patio, and we picked up the pile of screws and nails that has been under our deck since we moved in. Tim pulled down the poison ivy he sprayed a couple weeks ago, cut down some small bushes and dead bushes, helped us with weeding and cleaning up. Tim and I both carried the patio table up onto the deck and it's finally starting to be somewhere I want to go sit. Need to get some garden boxes to plant my peppers and things in, make it feel even more homey. Sat around in the back yard for a while, drinking water and enjoying the warmth. Weeding was interesting, I sat on the ground to do it, since leaning over is difficult, and it was almost as difficult to lean forward to weed.. silly baby belly.

Started pouring rain a while after we came in. Amy and Amelia came over for a visit, till Amelia and Reagan were arguing too much. I sent Reagan in to shower and Amy brought Amelia home.

We went for a quick grocery shop, mainly for strawberries and bananas for smoothies, and cheese for me, and somehow walked out with a full grocery shop. I didn't do one this week though, so we needed it.

Sweet and sour meatballs for dinner, with rice and broccoli for dinner. Cake (frozen from Easter), strawberries and chocolate whipped cream for dessert. Reagan wrote her journal, and now she's watching some old Pink Panther cartoons and it'll be bedtime soon! I'll probably fall asleep in the bath, I wore myself out.

My niece Emily's birthday today, sweet baby girl is four! I talked to her this morning and wished her a happy birthday, she said "Thank you autie mowanie, I hope you have a very happy birthday too!". Thanks Em. :P

Posted this to [livejournal.com profile] groceryvoyeur, which you should join and post to:

This was a bigger than usual shop for me, heading to Vancouver Island for two weeks and my husband said "pretend I'm useless, okay?" in a plea for me to make loads of meals for him like I did last year when I went home to visit. Being the loving wife I am, and a total suck, I said sure. :D

Planning on making him lasagna, sweet and sour meatballs, pasta casseroles, shepherds pie, cookies and banana muffins. Also bought him some processed stuff to make cooking for my step daughter a little easier.

Took Reagan out and even though there wasn't a single pair of water proof kids gloves to be found in this city, I did find her boots. Not winter boots, but cute pink polka dot rain boots, so she can just double up her socks and keep herself dry. Bought some mittens, but they are fairly useless, as soon as they get wet they are no good. She can wear mine over top.

We stopped in at McKay's used books and bought a huge pile of books, a few for me, a few for her, and a bunch for me to read to her: the next three in the Little House on the Prairie series, plus 5 of the Borrowers series. I'll start reading those to Reagan next, I loved them when I was a kid. Just read her chapter one of Little House on the Praire. I also bought the first Emily book, by L.M. Montgomery. I have them all in Canada, but I've been wanting to re-read them. It might be years before all my books are here in Virginia.

The snow has been coming down hard all day, but just started sticking. Was too warm earlier. Tomorrow, if I'm feeling well enough, I'll go with Amy, Amelia and Reagan (and Tim if he wants) to the big sledding hill at the middle school up the road.

Poor Tim is out at the store again, we are having ham and bean soup for dinner and he wanted biscuits, but I forgot we were out of butter. He's picking some up, as well as chocolate chips, with the promise that I'll finally bake him some cookies.

My (bonus) child is full of vim and vigor, way over excited about the snow.

cause it's cute.

Tim took Reagan out shopping with him, picking up some Christmas presents for me. I was a bit impatient at dinner with her, she was gnawing at her carrots and it was irritating me and then she starting pretending to be me and made some comment about me giving her a time out, and I snipped at her that she would be getting no dessert if the attitude continued, or some such thing. I knew I was just feeling tired and not in the mood for 8 year old silly smart ass attitude. We can't be perfect all the time!

We have her an extra night, which is nice. Micheal, Ada's fiance, called and said their roads were really bad, tomorrow might be better. Hopefully Tim or I can meet Ada half way and not have to do a 4 hour round trip, since Ada isn't working tomorrow. Tim does have to work, so I might drive, if I'm not feeling too bad.

I still need to pick up a couple things for Tim for Christmas, and I need to make one more stop at Wegmans for groceries. I thought I had it all, but remembered a few more things.
