Wedding day

The wedding was beautiful. We didn't fall down the steep hill. The DJ was an idiot and didn't show up with the right music, so the bride walked down to the same music as us girls.. but the guys walked out to "bad to the bone", which was amusing. It's a gorgeous spot for a wedding, I walked down the grass hill towards the ocean, and stood with the ocean behind me.

There were a couple bridezilla moments, but not too brutal. One of the bridesmaid's husbands went and bought us tons of food for between the wedding and photos. He was amazing. Juice boxes bottles of water and cookies and pepperoni and apples and pears and more.

We all drove around town honking horns. Katrina and Matt rode in this gorgeous cream coloured vintage car.

The reception went well. So much good food. I was so tired I didn't even touch mine wine, and could have had all the drinks I wanted, but I just drank so much water. I was wearing the most brutal underwear that I did not want to have to remove to pee, so I drank as little as possible, which is probably why I woke up feeling hung over today.

Katrina's favourite moment was when her mom actually got up and danced. She was worried her parents would be angry that she had a dance, and alcohol. They are very conservative, but she loved it and you could tell that her dad loved watching her mom dance ;) She's pretty hot for her age!

I loved my hair and felt beautiful. I thought it all went really well, but I am SO glad it's over.

I woke up at 6 this morning and thought my brain was trying to push it's way out of my head, so I went back to bed and slept till 10. Marina phoned and asked if I wanted to go boating with her and her husband, so I made a quick appearance at the present opening, and then drove to Campbell River. We were out on the water by 1 pm and didn't come back in till 6:30 or so. We hung out with a bunch of their friends and their boats. We found a private beach and planted ourselves. I put my chair in the water and just relaxed. At one point I walked up a trail and found this platform up in some trees. I climbed up and had a 'nap' (didn't actually sleep, just closed my eyes) for about 20 minutes. It was perfect. One of Marina's friends has a boat barbeque, so we barbequed smokies and ate those. It was really a very perfect day. Probably my last weekend of boating this year!

I'm still feeling dehydrated, think I'll try to suck back some juice and water this evening so I hopefully wake without a headache!

So, on top of the fact that I 1) have started my full time hours, 2) have to drive out to my parents house to feed their cats/water their gardens for the next week and a half, 3) have an appointment today for the clothes, 4) want to get to the gym every day, 5) have to alter my dress (make wider straps and possible cap sleeves), my landlord just called and wants to start showing my place this Friday. Hahahahah. Yes, I have to now make my house spotless on top of it all!

Should we start taking bets on what day my brain will snap? POLL TIME!

[Poll #1253101]

Have a great day everyone!!

So, the shower could not have gone any more perfectly. Loads of people were there, she got amazing gifts, there was so much food, it was perfect.

I decided that I'd make her a tissue/ribbon bouquet to use at her wedding rehearsal instead of a silly bridesmaid hat. (Do other people do those? It was always a staple growing up, at showers)

The bride, with her bouquet:

gets worse )

I think I've figured out that I'm an "after it's over" person. I work work work, feel all frantic and worry about everything turning out perfectly, and then as soon as something is done, I finally breath and sit back and enjoy how well it turned out.

I finally finished baking.

This is about a third of the cookies. The rest are going to Texada Island to be eaten by my family. :)
2 kinds of chocolate chip cookies

Sooooooo.... I'm not a cake decorator, but I thought I'd try to personalize it. At least I know she loves me despite my shaky hand while trying to write and draw.. that poor little flower on the bottom left hand side. Also they icing looks grey, but is purple!

NOT a cake decorator

Now I just have to get my stuff ready for her game, pick up balloons and get a present! Basically ready, right?

Edit: I scraped the two crappy petals off and redid them and it's way better. Not taking another picture, so you'll just have to imagine the perfection ;)

Today I walked past a bakery and saw this massive éclair. Pastry filled with cream, topped with chocolate and pieces of skor bar. It was round and luscious. I wanted it to be mine. I wanted to savour each bite. I never buy pastries.

I started to think that it might be okay to buy. It was only $1.98. It had skor bar on top! I had just finished a run... I deserved it.

Instead I walked past and went and bought some insanely over-priced cherries and I will enjoy every bite and will feel no guilt, and maybe I will eat an éclair one day, but not today.

ps. I tried on my bridesmaid dress and it fits better than last time I tried it on!! I'm feeling confident for September.

what a day!

I had such a great day today!

My ass is incredibly sore, but a great day.

I spent the day in an office, going through this stack of client profiles, and writing out forms for certain clients. I sat in with the bank manager for a bit, so he could teach me exactly what I needed to be doing, and so he could draw diagrams of how what I was doing was going to help the bank ;) I didn't really care how it helped, I just liked doing something different. The day went really fast! I'm doing it again tomorrow. I like having my own office.

After work, I ditched Ryan and went to the gym. I was just going to do the elliptical trainer, but I was dragged up to the step aerobics class again. Oh my. Just as brutal as last time, but I didn't feel like I was going to vomit this time. At one point we were doing lunges with weights across the floor, which was fine, but then each time she made them more difficult!! I have a feeling I'm going to be feeling it tomorrow (since I feel it already). We also ran 'laps' but she had four stations across the room. First one, you run to it, drop and do push-ups, run back to the wall. Run to the second one and do another exercise, repeat for third and fourth stations. Then we had to do jumping jacks till the last person arrived. I made sure I ran hard because I did not want to be the one everyone was waiting for. That was exhausting. I feel good now though (except for the ache...)

I'm barbequing some salmon, and am cooking some brown rice pasta and steaming some asparagus. It will not be cooked fast enough, I'm sure. I'm hungry!

If I keep up these classes, I might actually fit my September bridesmaid dress the way I want to!

Did I mention that Elton cut about 3 or 4 inches off my hair? It's no longer at my waist, but it's gorgeous and healthy. He spent half an hour washing (oh, the massage...) and cutting, and then an hour just brushing and drying it straight. I already hear a lot about my hair (since it's red and so long) but I had so many clients asking me how I get my hair so shiny. It was great. I love feeling gorgeous, after seeing him.

...

Katrina just phoned and she loves my dress, loves the colour, and wants me to wear the dress I already own. Part of me wanted a new fun dress, but hell, I've only worn this one once, and it's great on me (ooh, cleavage). It has a bit of a plunging neckline, goes just below my knees, is fitting enough to flatter, but loose enough to really flatter. It's a gorgeous dark eggplant colour, and uh.. I don't have pay for a dress! Woohoo. All the other girls just have to match the colour of their dress to mine!

The best part is that this dress was on sale a few years ago, but was I way to large for it. (like.. couldn't even get it on..) I thought I bought it for fifteen bucks or something ridiculous like that, down from over a hundred. Now it fits. I knew I'd fit it one day, and I do. Moments like this I'm really proud of myself.

Now I will spend money on super sexy suck em in underwear for under the dress. Hot.

...

Breaking news: I have a head cold. It sucks.

Yesterday after work I met Katrina and we went to three stores, trying on bridesmaid dresses. There is no selection in this city. I had one dress on, and Katrina said "after the wedding you could shorten it and wear it again!"

We went for dinner at Fluid again. I had the chicken and artichoke pasta.. had sun-dried tomatoes and fresh tomatoes.. was okay. I liked my pasta better last time, but last time it was a zillion calories with a cream sauce and bacon and chicken and good stuff like that. This was a healthier choice, but just not as tasty ;)

After dinner, off to the theater to see 27 Dresses. We almost died when they laughed about how brides always say that you can shorten the dress and wear it again... cause you'll never wear the dress again... Katrina laughed so hard and told me to smack her if she said it again!

Today )

Even though trying to find dresses is a bit stressful, I think this is going to be a lot of fun.
