bridesmaid duties

Yesterday after work I met Katrina and we went to three stores, trying on bridesmaid dresses. There is no selection in this city. I had one dress on, and Katrina said "after the wedding you could shorten it and wear it again!"
We went for dinner at Fluid again. I had the chicken and artichoke pasta.. had sun-dried tomatoes and fresh tomatoes.. was okay. I liked my pasta better last time, but last time it was a zillion calories with a cream sauce and bacon and chicken and good stuff like that. This was a healthier choice, but just not as tasty ;)
After dinner, off to the theater to see 27 Dresses. We almost died when they laughed about how brides always say that you can shorten the dress and wear it again... cause you'll never wear the dress again... Katrina laughed so hard and told me to smack her if she said it again!
Today I went to Campbell River with her, about an hour or so away from here. We went to church first and then met our friend Layla to go look at more bridesmaid dresses. We found one that I loved and she loved on me, but it was black and they couldn't order it in another colour. The good thing is that we realized I have almost the exact dress in an eggplant kind of colour and Kat might want to go with that. I'm going to go to Nanaimo as well (about an hour and a half away, on an icy day) to look at some more.
After giving up on the bridal shop, we went to a Wedding Fair. Bridal fashion show.. booths of flowers and food and chocolate fountains and lingerie and personal trainers and candles and various other weddingish things. Was fun but long.
Had a few twinging moments of wondering if I would ever get married. Sometimes wish I was 20 again and young enough to just marry blindly, not worrying about what my future held. (don't be offended if you were 20 when you married, please, I just know I would be way less cautious than I am now)
I felt a bit car sick on the ride home and my stomach is still a bit funny.
Even though trying to find dresses is a bit stressful, I think this is going to be a lot of fun.

Date: 2008-02-04 02:14 am (UTC)The tough thing is that all of us are different sizes. I'm the curviest, and shortest. Layla is curvy, but the nice kind.. big boobs and big booty and a very flat stomach (bitch!!).. Meredith is probably going to be pretty pregnant for the ceremony and Liz is extremely slim and we will all hate her.

Date: 2008-02-04 02:20 am (UTC)Then again I didn't even get out of dramas with that. I told everyone not to dress up for our wedding, and my brother wore a suit, no tie. Elaina wore a lovely sweater and black pants (that actually passes for a long skirt in the pictures), but mom and my friend Wendy wore fancy dresses - my aunt and cousin wore skirts. E was like WTF?! I'm like THEY DO NOT LISTEN! My uncle was telling everyone they had to wear suits to the dinner too. I was like NO! I don't care what you wear just don't wear jeans and a t-shirt, shit. haha
It was the middle of freakin' February, I wasn't about to ask people to dress up, you know? I get my mom though, but everyone else.... -.-

Date: 2008-02-04 02:47 am (UTC)It was still pretty tasty, but not sure I'd order it a second time. I could have made that at home very easily.

Date: 2008-02-04 03:57 am (UTC)Chocolate fountains are all the rage but they completely gross me out. All I can think of when I see them are the double-dipping episode from Seinfeld:
AND they cost something crazy like $8.00 per person. I'd rather spend the money on alcohol!

Date: 2008-02-04 04:04 am (UTC)I'm not sure about the cost here.. *back* I just looked at the chocolate shop here in town, and it's about $345 for the rental, which includes their amazing belgium chocolate. I don't think I'd bother with one, but I don't care if she gets one ;)

Date: 2008-02-04 04:08 am (UTC)I hope most people have common sense and don't double dip. Whenever I've seen the fountains, there are usually slices of fruit on skewers to dip.

Date: 2008-02-04 08:06 pm (UTC)If your bridesmaids have similar body shapes, then the same dress would probably work fine. We are all very different from each other, so thankfully she wanted dresses that would look good on all our body types.
