I'm on hold with Air Canada. I made a pricey mistake, and had a bitchy Air Canada representative tell me so. I thought I'd clear customs, as usual, in Vancouver, but because I'm flying within Canada (for the first time, rather than flying to a USA city for my layover), I have to clear customs in Toronto. I only have an hour and 15 minutes to land, get off the plane, go through customs (which can be a pain as an immigrant), take a shuttle to my far away gate.. all with a baby. Not going to happen.
After I sat on hold for 57 minutes, the woman was rude to me and tried to make me feel stupid by saying things like "You booked this flight a month ago and didn't think to call expedia to see why there wasn't a longer lay-over??". Uh, I didn't know I needed a longer lay-over, it says I land and depart at the same terminal, not everyone automatically knows they have to do customs there. She kept being mouthy and attitudey to me and I asked to speak to her manager and she hung up on me. :(
Then I sat online for 20 minutes with expedia and I put the phone down for a minute to adjust the baby, and I heard a voice so I picked it up and the guy hung up. He was talking about another number to call, and I was saying "I'm here! I'm here!" but click. *cries*
Went to expedia.com and you have to pay $150 to change your flight, which I have to do, but apparently it's $75 for same day flight changes with Air Canada (even though today is not the same day, good lord I hope that doesn't cause problems), so I am going to change it with Air Canada. The automated voice warned me that it was at least a 45 minute wait again.
I guess I should just be grateful that I'm not trying to get out of Japan or somewhere like that. :(
ETA: I then spent another almost hour and a half on hold, got a nice agent but promptly started tearing up when I was explaining what was going on. He was super sweet but told me there wasn't anything he could do, it was just best to go and get put on standby, and that it looked like there were available seats so I should be fine. I'm hoping to get on a 9:20 flight so I'll have 3 hours for customs in Toronto. sigh.
