Well, hello there, Sunday morning.

Quick recap of the week.. Tuesday picked Tim up from the airport. Wednesday we just hung out and then went for dinner at my parent's house. Mom phoned later to tell me how much they like him, and said he was "sooo nice Melanie!". My sister phoned and said that my dad said he was very smart, which is a good compliment from my dad.

Tuesday morning we went off to the mainland to visit my sister Amanda and her kids. The kids, after a few minutes, were piled all over him. It apparently wasn't right that Isaac got to sit beside Tim on the couch, they all had to climb up and somehow managed to sit on/beside him, grinning all the while. Sweet kids.

Texada Island was beautiful and quiet as usual. We kept pretty busy. We arrived Thursday afternoon and left Saturday morning, but managed to stop at the quarry to see the gorgeous turquoise water, we went for a walk in the nature park and saw the insanely huge old growth trees. An amazing dinner at the Tree Frog Bistro. We started with calamari, which is usually a bit chewy since it's deep fried, but oh my goodness, the batter was light and crisp and the squid was tender. I think it was the best calamari I've ever had and I've tried it a lot of places. Tim had this salmon dish that was a piece of salmon topped with spinach, some shredded coconut, various other things I don't remember, and then wrapped in filo pastry, over rice with asparagus and broccoli and zucchini and other veggies. I had pork tenderloin with wild mushrooms, with amazing mashed potatoes and the same veggies. I love a really good restaurant, and a good one in a tiny town is such a great find.

We also drove down to Cox Lagoon, where Tim saw eagles and starfish for the first time. The beach was covered with purple starfish and orange sunstars. Cox Lagoon is a private beach that is on property owned by some German prince who owns large chunks of the Island. We have a key to all his properties, so it's cool to end up on this amazing beach that almost no one has access to. We also went to my other favourite Island spots, like Shingle beach, and we went to visit my friends Lauren and Ron, who just bought this old place that they are ripping out and renovating! It'll be sad to not have her living one street down from me, over there, but I think they are going to love their new place.

Last night we ate kind of gross Chinese food (Red Ruby, for locals). Chinese food here just does not compare to Chinese food in the greater DC area.

Yesterday I got the brilliant idea that we'd go to church today, even though I haven't really gone for the past 4 years. I already told my mom, so we can't really back out. Oh well. Looks like a gorgeous day! Church will go fast.

Pictures will follow, at some point in the future.

I have an hour and a half to kill on the ferry, so I'm going to try to re-cap the remainder of the trip to keep awake. Hopefully it won't put you asleep...before I got home.. )
