my present

My birthday present is an upright freezer! I've been drooling over them for years, and Tim has always balked at giving things like appliances for birthdays, but I tell you, it thrills me to get appliances. Now I can fill it with sauces and casseroles and cookies and homemade ice cream (when I'm back on dairy) and MEAT. I'd love to buy half a cow sometime.

Awesome gift, and he was smart and got it off of craigslist, so it's a current model for way less. Around here people like to spend money, but they move so often that it's a great way to get things for cheap. Throw away society FTW!

I thought it was very thoughtful of Tim to get it, he paid attention to what I've been going on about for ages!!

My dad would sometimes bring home 5 gallon containers of ice cream left over from office parties...because he was the only one with an upright freezer! GAH! I am coveting you so hard right now.

I know how you feel, I have wanted one for so long! And ice cream, I want ice cream. Wonder if I can make custard with hazelnut milk??

AWESOMMMMMMMME! I had a feeling it was something like that when you mentioned the note (although I haven't commented on that post yet)! Clever Tim! :D

I love appliances/kitchen stuff for my birthday too. People always give me a hard time "dont' you want something FOR YOU" hello?!?! If it makes my life easier in the kitchen, I'm all over it. haha

I'm jelis of ur freezer yo. ;)

It was clever and sweet of him. And yes, exactly! And I'm jealous and it's MINE! I can't wait to clean out the upstairs fridge freezer!!

Very thoughtful! And yes, you'll love having a freezer. When my upright bit the dust, I decided not to replace it. Being single, and not entertaining nearly as often as I once did, I figured I didn't really need it anymore. I miss it, though, and hate having to think about freezer space when I get the chance for farm fresh meat or just when I'm in a mood to stock up. Happy early birthday, by the way! :)

I just need a garden like yours so I can fill it with nice veggies I've harvested!!!

Fridge freezers are just too small.

Lady, I'm so with you on this -- my favorite things to get have been appliances once I entered the realm of marriage, family and OMGDIAPERS. I will admit to having taken issue with receiving a crock pot from a minister I dated back in the day, but as they say, "you've come a long way, baby...."

My primary goal when fetching belongings from Ohio was to retrieve my 23 cu foot chest freezer and the french door-bottom-drawer-freezer fridge. Craigstlist and freecycle are fabulous.

I'm hinting with unbelievable audacity about how I'd love to have a set of those duet frontloading washer/dryer WITH bottom drawers included for Yule/Christmas. Yeah, baby.

I told Tim that I thought maybe he was putting a utility sink in and he said that even he wouldn't sink that low on a b'day present, but it would be handy for diapers!!

The best christmas present was my kitchenaid mixer, and I'd love to add a food processor to that list, plus pasta cutters, a nut chopper. I love kitchen stuff! Anything that makes cooking and baking and general domestic stuff easier!!

Once my loser husband got "me" a microwave for my Christmas gift. I was annoyed, because I did not want a microwave, and I hated the model. An appliance is only a good gift if the recipient wants it!

Yes, that is a very good point. I also LOVE gift certificates to my favourite second hand book store, but that is not a gift for everyone!

When my grandmother died and we were figuring out what to keep and what to donate, I insisted on keeping her upright freezer.
It was probably 15 years old at the time, and it lasted another 10 years beyond that. I miss it so much :( I got a chest freezer which is okayyyyyyyy but it's not the same. LOL so hard to see anything (which is also why I loathe most of the new refrigerators with freezer drawers in the bottom.

Anyway--I digress.
Great job Tim! I know you'll love filling it up :)

I will love filling it up! My mom is jealous, she's sharing her chest freezer with my sister and her family AND my brother, and she says it's impossible to find anything. I had to brag that mine has three shelves, and a basket and a ton of storage on the door. ;)

I'm not a fan of the freezers on the bottom. So far my favourite is the side by side that we have, but that's not even saying much.

ooh good idea! I love gift cards, I have one I'm saving from Home Depot, I have a few projects in mind. I have a harder time spending cash, but I feel great about spending gift cards. Funny how the brain works.

An extra fridge would come in handy sometimes, like around holidays! I love kitchen stuff. Thankfully he finally realizes it's a good gift!

And I'm glad Tim paid attention to the fact that you've been longing for a freezer and got over his reluctance to give you an appliance. Those are awesome gifts! (If it's something you wanted)
