I woke up with no voice this morning. I was so out of it, Tim brought me water and that helped. My voice is a bit better now, just sick sounding, throaty. My ears and throat really hurt.

Reagan's room is finished and it looks really nice. I even cut up pictures with her and friends and put them in her picture frames. I think she'll be happy. Hopefully she can keep it nice and organized. Also tidied up around the Christmas tree. Most the presents are still under the tree, Reagan hasn't seen hers since Christmas eve. Will be fun to see them all over again.

Tim is coming home with Reagan right now. He drove towards work, decided there was too much traffic and turned around and came home. Worked from home all week. It's going to be sad to see him back at the office next week, after two weeks of having him at home, on vacation or working.

Breakfast for dinner tonight. Apple and brown sugar breakfast sausages, pancakes, eggs and fruit smoothie.

My aunt mailed me a cheque for Christmas, but the bank here doesn't function well with Canadian cheques. We deposited one for $15 from my mom in August and they still haven't deposited the money, as far as we can see. I'll mail it to my mom and she can put it in my Canadian account.

Time for me to shower, almost 4 pm.

I know that plant but I hadn't heard of the medicinal uses! I wonder if it's reached the east coast yet.

I keep meaning to and keep forgetting. I'm going to put Paxton in the bouncy chair for all our showers, so he gets a good amount of steam.

but the bank here doesn't function well with Canadian cheques.

It's the same with my sister's bank, which strikes me as odd. I can go into a Canadian bank with a U.S. check and they'll do the conversion and deposit on the spot. My sister had to way six weeks for her check to go through.

Are you with one of the bigger banks or a credit union?

Exactly. When I was in VA the first time, I had about $30 in CAD and no one would touch it. Non clients come into the Canadian bank I worked at and yelled at me because I couldn't take more than $100 USA from a non client. We can take any amount from anyone, and there's only a short list of currency we can't take, according to USA law.

We are with Navy Federal credit union.

My sister is with a credit union, too. I wonder if the bigger banks like BofA (I almost typed BMO. Ha!) can handle things faster?

Oh, wait. You said that when you first came to VA you had trouble everywhere.

How odd. I no longer have a U.S. bank account so I didn't try to convert cash the last time I was down there. I know that up here it's no problem at all (well, and you know, too, since you've worked in banks. I need more coffee...)

Exactly, I went to every bank I could think of, and all of them said they had to keep the money for minimum 2 weeks to send it away and make sure it wasn't fraudulent. When i worked at the bank, we had a book that we'd look in to see the security for each type of currency, and the had a special black light pen they checked the (higher amounts of) american cash with.

I can also order any kind of currency I want, at RBC (which is where I worked).

Totally OT but do you happen to have that nipple drawing on your harddrive? I think I actually had it on my old one so it's lost :(

(Also, HA! People who don't know what I'm talking about are going to be wondering what the hell nipple drawing am I talking about?)

I think it's on my old computer, I'll have to look for it later, now that it's fixed.
