Reagan has been a rock star! She listened so well all day yesterday and helped so much. Today I wrote a list of things that needed to get done, and when I was off nursing Paxton she wrote an R beside any of the jobs she could do, and that was all but two. She cleaned her bedroom, emptied the dishwasher, emptied all the garbage cans around the house (I did the one in our bedroom), read, brought the recycling to the curb, put the garbage bag out in the can, and we made a sun-dial together for her class assignment. The only thing she has left to do is write her journal entry!

We went to Sunday School this morning, well, Reagan went and I tried to go to church but Paxton was too interested in the teenagers sitting behind me and was chattering at them, so I watched the sermon from comfy chairs in the lobby till I got bored (quite quickly). I headed to the nursery but I didn't want to drop Paxton off, so I was letting him watch babies from the window and they said I could go in with him. There were about 7 babies in tears, so I sat on the floor and played peek-a-boo with them. One teacher was holding two babies and the other was holding one. One climbed up on me, and the teacher said it was fine for me to hold him. I ended up holding two crying babies while Paxton cruised the room. Eventually he realized I was holding babies and was only okay with it if I was holding him too. He was so funny, he's been copying sounds lately, and he was fake crying. It wasn't his whine and it wasn't a cry and he wasn't upset, but he was definitely making a crying sound. Made me laugh.

We are doing crash potatoes for dinner tonight, with sausages and veggies. It was supposed to be roast chicken, but my chicken didn't thaw enough, I'll make it tomorrow in the crock pot instead. Reagan talked me into buying a tin of eel at the grocery store, so we are eating that with dinner. I love roasted eel, lets see how tinned eel holds up.......

Talked to Tim this morning, all night I kept checking my email to see if he had contacted me. I came up with crazy theories that ranged from him being totally fine with no internet available to him being kidnapped to him having an affair. Gotta love a tired brain. My first thought was right, that there wasn't internet set up in his room yet, no way of phoning or texting me. He emailed me by 7 am my time and phoned around 8:30 am. I have the hotel # now, so I can call him when I like. I didn't realize he had sent it to me previously, or I would have just called in the night to see if he had at least checked in. Worried wife. :)

So curious how it goes for Reagan to get home. Do M&A get to come pick her up or do you have to drive?

Glad it's been a good weekend with Reagan. Sounds like she's stepping it up with daddy not around the whole time. I think it's cool she's there even though Tim is gone. I can't even imagine me staying with a stepmother (either of them!) if my dad wasn't there... haha times have changed! Don't get me wrong--I think it's great for R to be with just you too. Just thinking back to my stepmoms... lol I'd be home immediately the minute dad took off. lol

I totally know what you mean and it makes me feel good as a stepmom, to know that I can make this feel like her home, even when dad isn't here. That I'm just a normal part of her life. Come on, don't you want to hang out with your dad's most recent wife? :P

Neither of them were stellar. haha I think it's saying something that my mom was the best of his 3 wives! (and he admits this, and all his friends & family agree. LOL)

You are a great stepmom. You're more like a mom than stepmom and that's how it SHOULD be :)

aww, thank you. That's how I feel. (not that I feel like I'm Reagan's mom, but kind of like a bonus mom)

Seriously, you should not call yourself a stepmom. Tell Reagan 'bonusmom' is a much better title. The word 'stepmom' gets a bad rap!

evil stepmoms of the world unite! ;)

Remember.. I'm the one who got booted from the stepmom community on LJ for wanting people to not be bitter bitches.

She is so adventuresome!!

Oh, and Michael is supposed to pick her up tonight, I said I wouldn't do it with the baby, would be silly for me to drive 2 hours with a screaming baby when Michael is perfectly capable of picking up! The last Friday should be a gong show, I have LLL in the morning, then picking Reagan up at school (4 hours), come home and nurse Paxton and then go get Tim at the airport! Next weekend Ada took some days off and is staying with Reagan, which will be nice for them.

Glad you don't have to drive, yay!
And haha next week will be interesting, especially after training at work this week. Hopefully there will be lots of sleep in store for you next weekend!

I hope so, I'm going to try to take naps with Pax when I can! As much as I love having Reagan here, after working all week I probably will appreciate just having one kid to take care of!

It was so good. She even wrote about it in her journal, and how she did it all without a complaint. :D

Yay for Reagan. It sounds like she is doing so wonderfully! I agree with one of the other commenters; I have known people who called their stepmoms "bonus mom" instead because they had such a good relationship.

I'm also impressed at her adventurousness when it comes to food. I have never had tinned eel, just smoked eel sushi. :)

I'm glad that you heard from Tim and he is OK.

I ate a bit of the eel, but she ate a good portion of it! She's a funny kid. I'm so happy we had a great weekend, I was a bit afraid she might try pushing buttons, etc, since dad wasn't here, but she was really a pleasure to be with. I'm lucky to have a good relationship with her.

I'm glad Tim's okay too! I knew his flight had landed okay, but it just isn't like him to not contact me when he said he would, I figured it had to be a problem with finding a phone or internet. I don't even know if it's possible to call collect overseas, but now I have his room number and the hotel number so I can call him.

Wow...go Reagan! Impressive of her to step up and help out with Tim away. And also yay for her adventurousness in picking out the tinned eel. Did she like it? I only recently tried it myself and found I enjoyed it too.

She loved the eel, she ate some with dinner and then wanted the rest after dinner. I had a small bite and it was fine, but not something I was wanting a lot of. She's a great kid.
